Training and Experience I have 40 plus years of relevant work, business, and management experience. Worked as a mechanic for local businesses. Truck driver, I hauled gasoline tankers, single drop deck and lowboy trailers. As a chemist, I worked 20 years for an international company. Starting as a chemist, promoted to research and development chemist. Then I moved into management with responsibilities in the United States and other countries. I now own a small construction/remodel business and continue to farm.

We need a plan to reduce both the property and income tax burden across the board, but it will take a different approach to get both done. When elected I will draft legislation resulting in an immediate income tax cut across the board and upon a worker's retirement, additional means based tiered tax cuts getting to ZERO state income tax. Property taxes are more of a challenge at the state level. But I will make it my top priority to evaluate current tax formulas and state policy such as CAUV, Homestead Exemption that will help reduce the increase in local property tax levies on taxpayers. I will also initiate action to evaluate the current property re-appraisal and up-date formula.
I support the mandate for valid photo ID. I also support any improvements to signature verification.
The government can influence economic growth in several ways. Low interest rates for new startup businesses, while also offering similar opportunities for existing businesses that are struggling or trying to expand. Tax incentives are also enticing to businesses looking for growth or start up opportunities. These strategies need to be planned and calculated to make sure that the burden of the Ohio budget doesn't land squarely on the backs of the citizens. With new business growth, individual tax burdens can be reduced. New business opportunities mean new job opportunities. We need to plan for a change in workforce to go along with the business growth. Reduction in individual taxes also leads to more consumer spending and economic growth.
Education is critical for the success of our communities, State and Country. K-3rd grade needs much tighter control. In the first years of a child's education, it is critical that all students benefit from an equal opportunity to learn the basics. Any personal agendas need to be prohibited. If a child falls behind early, it is nearly impossible to catch back up. From 3rd grade on, we need a set curriculum that allows for our children to prepare for the real world. As a country, we are failing to do what is needed to prepare our children for the competitiveness that they will face when trying to obtain a job and support a family. We also need to expand the promotion of trade schools for more diverse education opportunity.
Overall, there should be a very cooperative and collaborative relationship. The State Government should set minimal standards for public safety. From strict minimum punishments for crimes, to better mental health programs. States should support local decisions where appropriate: local governance, education, and community development. The State should also regulate tax calculations, so individuals do not have to go through the massive property tax hikes like we experienced this year. The state intervene or support local governments when necessary to uphold state laws, maintain order, or address issues that transcend local boundaries.
Support free market competition, limited government intervention, personal responsibility (patients making their own choices) and oppose mandates. Protect and support our elderly. Many of our elderly struggle to afford medications and deal with the out-of-control inflation. We need to work with insurance providers to create a path for major cost reduction for Medicare and Medicare supplements our elderly.
Our health and safety need to be top priority, and a healthy environment is a major part of our accomplishing that. We need plans that work to reduce pollution all while nurturing economic growth. We need to protect land-owner rights and promote new technology improvements. We need policies that promote manufacturing in the USA and reduce or eliminate purchases from countries that do not regulate pollution and environmental safety. We know China is a major polluter, but we continue to depend on them for so many of our daily needs.
Every legal citizen in the United States is afforded the same rights. Any policy that promotes one ethnicity over another needs to be eliminated. Discrimination and reverse discrimination are equally devastating to our country. We need policy that supports age and experience as a value and not a deterrent. Improvements to our education system will ensure everyone has an equal opportunity later in life.
