1. Giving better Customer Service to our taxpayers. Being accessible and available to residents to hear questions and act on ideas must be the focus of every elected official. 2. Property Tax Reform. Working to educate fellow lawmakers on the property tax system and Ohio's funding of essential service at the local and state level will be the first step in adding protections and relief to property owners.
I support any effort to make Ohio's elections more secure and safe. Currently, Ohio is well positioned in a balance of safety and accessibility to the voter.
I believe that government creates the environment for economic growth. I think we do this by showing a willingness to work with business and strike the right balance between job creation and protection.
I believe in an all of the above approach to our forms of education. I want to see the removal and reduction of many mandates and regulations in our public schools that limit the ability for teachers to teach and students to learn. I also want to see a robust marketplace of options for families to find the best fit for their children.
I think the generic go to stance of government should be that local is better, and less intrusive is ideal. There should be rare instances where the state will overrule or dictate to the local entities. These should be to protect individual rights, give efficiencies to taxpayers, or correct wrongs.
I do not particularly have a formal policy position on healthcare except that to the most degree possible, the state should not involve itself in that market.
I believe the best conservationists are outdoorsmen, hunters, and farmers. I want to have greater investments into our state park systems which will promote visits and greater appreciation for the outdoors. Conserving resources is important. I also am a realist in that an all of the above approach for energy production must be our path forward. Ohio will have an energy crisis in the near future if we do not expand state production.
