I will advocate for Democracy, women’s rights, working families, the environment, public education, gun safety, labor, justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and healthcare. Being a former teacher, I have no problem using my teacher voice and educating those who are advocating for harmful policies. As a business owner, I understand what it means to put in hard work. As a mother, I’m dedicated to creating a future Ohio that attracts and retains young, creative minds in our state. As a pragmatist, I will work diligently to build relationships with my Republican colleagues in order to find lanes where we can collaborate. One major way to knock down the extremist super majority is to elect reasonable candidates against extremist opponents.
I support Same Day Voter Registration and Automatic Voter Registration. I support early voting on all weekends leading up to election day. I support allowing people who aren’t immediate blood relatives to turn in absentee ballots, especially for voters who are disabled. Anything that increases voter participation is a win in my books and that includes fully funding our public schools so we can provide a comprehensive, inclusive, and historically accurate civics education to our young people. When young people understand WHY democracy matters—and most especially why and how certain groups have been excluded from it in our nation’s past—they are more likely to become active protectors of voting rights.
The first step is to stand up to extremism in our government. Businesses don’t want to invest in Ohio, because Ohio has become a less safe place for working families. Attacks on reproductive rights, attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, and undemocratic special elections drive our workforce away. When Ohio is a more welcoming place for people, it will be a more welcoming place for businesses, too.

We also need to work towards more sustainable energy, which will create jobs and make Ohio a better place for families. Ohio has a strong manufacturing history. I’d love to see factories in Ohio building solar panels, wind turbines, and electric vehicle batteries right here in our state.
As the daughter of two public school teachers and a former teacher myself, I’m appalled to see the attack on public schools. Vouchers are siphoning millions from public schools to private schools with little to no oversight. Our legislature recently stripped power and funding from our democratically-elected State Board of Education. This should alarm all Ohioans. Public education is a public good, not a private entity. There is nothing more important to a strong democracy than a free and fair education for all. I will stop the bleeding of public dollars to private institutions and support returning autonomy to the State Board of Education. I will support educators at all levels in teaching an inclusive and historically accurate curriculum.
The state should support local government whenever it is able. A key part of a State Representative’s job is to advocate for local municipalities, ensuring that state funding comes back to provide for local funding. As a State Representative, I promise to advocate for our community, and make sure that we are never left out of key opportunities for local funding.
Healthcare is a basic human right. No one should struggle to access healthcare or have to choose between hospital bills and groceries. I support expanding access to healthcare and finding ways to make it more affordable, including scaling down Ohio’s aggressive Medicaid estate recovery policy. I support efforts to keep our best and brightest minds at the bedsides of Ohio’s hospitals, including the creation of a task force of doctors and nurses to explore solutions to the chronic staffing shortages that have created healthcare deserts in our neediest communities. I will always defer to our medical community on healthcare legislation, including bills related to reproductive care and gender-affirming care.
I care deeply about reducing fossil-fueled climate change, improving water quality, and eliminating fracking. I support the creation of incentives for Ohio companies and consumers to switch to renewable energy, allowing us to address climate change and create jobs at the same time. I support the H2Ohio Rivers program to monitor and improve the quality of our greatest natural resource: a clean water supply. I support all efforts to halt fracking in Ohio. Fracking has no place in our state. My opponent voted to allow fracking in Ohio State Parks, needlessly decimating our public lands and increasing health risks for Ohio communities. Ohioans deserve healthy state parks that are full of wildlife and natural beauty, not pollution.
A key ideal of our democracy is the belief that all people are created equal. To work toward this ideal, our government should actively fight discrimination wherever we find it. Sadly, this isn’t happening in Ohio. In fact, we often see the very discrimination our government should be fighting against actively pursued by our representatives. Bills that deny private medical decisions to women and the parents of transgender children are acts of discrimination. Our leaders should fight AGAINST these policies, not for them. As your state rep, I will pursue the higher ideals of democracy by combating discriminatory policies not only in our statehouse, but throughout our entire state. The people of Ohio deserve it.
