Training and Experience I am in my first term as the state Representative for District 11 and currently balance that work with my work as an OB/GYN in Columbus, Ohio
Volunteer/Community Service I am a mentor for the OhioHealth Diversity Scholars Program which pairs minority med students with a physician for the 4 years of medical school.
My top priorities are to improve access to health care through legislation that decreases the cost of medications, allow more transparency in health care costs and to stop legislation that impacts the quality of public education.
Ohio voters voted overwhelmingly in favor of fair maps. In return they received the unconstitutional maps we are currently voting under which were rejected by the Ohio Supreme Court many times over. I plan to support and work for the constitutional amendment that would change the way districts are drawn. We need a bipartisan, non biased committee to create districts instead of politicians who have created gerrymandered districts. We need legislators who improve Ohio and listen to their voters.
By passing legislation that is inclusive and promotes diversity. We should also work on legislation that supports affordable housing.

Public education is the backbone of a free and just society. It deserves our utmost attention and funding to ensure everyone who wants to succeed has the resources to do so. I have supported legislation that is based on our full and accurate history, supports diversity and inclusion and helps fund public schools. I have voted against school vouchers that benefit the wealthy far more than they help underserved students.
The state should only check local government if the legislation would be harmful to the State.
As a physician, quality and affordable healthcare is essential to our physical and economic security. I will work to ensure policy and legislation is written based on scientific fact and allows individuals and families to make medical decisions guided by medical experts and free from government overreach. I have introduced the Reproductive Care Act to remove some of the restrictions that are in place against reproductive care.
Environmental policy can affect public health. For example, urban areas with fewer trees and green spaces or more factories can impact the percentage of people that are impacted by pulmonary disease such as asthma and can impact the risk for cancer. By converting public parks to areas where fracking is allowed we damage Ohio for the next generation.
The role of government is to protect those who are discriminated against through laws and legislation that is inclusive. We also need to educate people on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion and how it improves society for all of us. Government’s role is to lift up society to a higher level. If we are not all lifting at the same rate, there is work to be done. Government must work to remove barriers to betterment, both at the individual and societal level. It must also put measures in place to ensure all members of society have free and fair access to the tools and resources necessary for advancement.
