I have served McDowell County in one aspect or another since 1988. I have attempted to serve without respect of any one group or individual. It is my opinion that elected officials should serve the people, not the other way around. Our county has a population of approximately 55,000 people. We are all friends and neighbors and should be treated as such from the least to the greatest. I have prior management and legal experience with regards to employees and budgets that has allowed me to better serve the county.
Economic growth, protection of our children and elderly. Quality healthcare for all. Homelessness and mental illness.
Holding accountable the leadership of our local school system to provide the best education possible for our children. Making certain that taxpayer dollars are spent in accordance with the values and morals of the majority of the county. Providing safe environments for learning through supporting proper training of local law enforcement and School Resource Officers.
When in the case of tax incentives making sure that the taxpayer return on investment is guaranteed. We should never use taxpayer money to entice businesses that cannot provide some level of guarantee of return to the taxpayer.
We are and have been for several years in need of a new DSS facility. It is my personal goal to see that come to pass. Our employees have worked long and hard in a building that is substandard.
I count it a blessing and a privilege to have been able to serve this county through five successful campaigns. I owe nothing to anyone politically. My service and dedication is to the citizens of this county. I represent every single citizen no matter which political party they may be aligned with. Every citizen's opinion matters. I have spent most of my adult life trying to serve my fellow man and will continue to do so whether re-elected or not.
