Biographical Information

Why are you running for the School Board?

How will you approach decisions on controversial issues when community members have conflicting views about the actions the School Board should take?

In what order would you, as a potential school board member, place the following priorities for your district: athletics, core academic programming, extracurricular opportunities (music, art, clubs, etc.), facilities maintenance/expansion, and technology development? Please explain.

What policies or programs do you advocate that would foster a school atmosphere where everyone feels physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe?

The Greater Latrobe School Board has been mired in a state of inaction for 2 years. Although the voters spoke loud and clear on the new junior high project, the mandate did not mean stop all educational investment. Teachers contract expired and went unsigned for months, a leaking roof was ignored, and elementary classroom sizes continued to grow. All the while, an inexperienced board needed to be brought up to speed on how Pennsylvania School Districts operate.

I will bring leadership, knowledge, and a sense of forward movement to break the deadlock of the school board. Understanding that taxes are someone's hard earned dollars, I take the view of targeted investments in our school district. Strong schools build strong communities!
The purpose of a school director, school district, and individual schools are to education ALL students. All issues should be viewed through the lens of educating and preparing our students for the world in 2025 and beyond.
1. Core Academic Programming (a solid foundation beginning in kindergarten or early leads to higher academic success in later years) 2. Facilities Maintenance and Expansion (normally this would sit at 3 or 4 for me but our buildings in Greater Latrobe are quickly becoming both unsafe and obsolete for the 21st century learner. This does not mean that I believe in new buildings, but we much think outside the box to make what we have both safe and work for us in today's world) 3. Technology Development (Cutting edge technology for both academic and technical education is no longer a luxury. In order to compete on a global scale in academia, industry, and government, cutting edge technology is required. 4. Extracurricular Activities (maintain)
Strong anti-bullying programs and policies that are enforced in the elementary. Continue culture of learning and inclusion in the Greater Latrobe School District Community, which we already do with Wildcat Fridays and a strong arts and athletic program.

Increased student accessibility to guidance department (counselors, school psychologist, school social workers). Specific units or classes imbedded into freshman seminar and senior transition classes on emotional wellness, stress management as well as interpersonal and soft skills for both careers and personal relationships.
