I’m running because I want a bright future for the public schools that are the heart of our community, and I want students at the center of all decisions.

I’m running because at the school board level, education needs to be the focus, not politics.
Respectful, thoughtful community conversation likely turns out to be the key to building education in a community. Whether or not an issue is controversial, let's include a lot of voices in the important work of educating the young people in our community. The success of the district means that multiple perspectives really do need to be considered to create the solutions that serve the needs of the students and community.
Academic programming is the core of what we want from the schools, certainly. As a parent with kids at the high school and college level, though, I have increasing come to understand that extracurricular opportunities build on that programming in critical ways. These opportunities become a testing ground for refining the lessons they are learning in school, like counting on a teammate or creating something together. Facilities and technology are a foundation for everything else.
I'm in favor of programming that helps young people learn to have thoughtful, respectful conversations. Learning to understand why other people might have a different viewpoint is an important skill.

I am running for our school board because I believe in the incredible potential of our district and the responsibility we have to uphold excellence in education. As a mother of four young children (8,6,4,2) with a long-standing family history in Murrysville, I am deeply invested in ensuring that our schools not only provide a strong academic foundation but also prepare students for lifelong success.

Beyond my role as a parent, I am a local small business owner, an active parishioner at Mother of Sorrows Church, and a dedicated youth sports coach. I understand the value of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and I want to ensure our schools foster these same principles.
When dealing with controversial issues that provoke differing opinions within the community, especially in the context of a School Board, it's important to take a balanced, respectful, and principled approach. As a conservative woman, I believe in upholding values such as personal responsibility, respect for tradition, and promoting a learning environment that prioritizes the well-being and education of all students. Here's how I would approach such decisions:

1. Active Listening and Community Engagement 2. Evidence-Based Decisions 3.Staying True to Core Values (academic excellence, personal responsibility, and preparing for real life success)
1. Core Academic Programming - The foundation of any school district is its academic curriculum and ensures that students receive a strong, well-rounded education. 2. Facilities Maintenance/Expansion - Maintaining and expanding school facilities is vital for creating a safe, conducive learning environment. 3. Technology Development - Students must be equipped with digital skills required to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven society. 4. Extracurricular Opportunities - Because they are essential for a well-rounded education, they help students develop important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, time management, and creativity.
Franklin Regional's strengths lie in our dedicated students and the robust curriculum we offer, which emphasizes career readiness. I want help support and expand this program that provides students with opportunities to graduate high school with associate degrees, allowing them to reduce college debt and still complete a bachelor's degree in just two years. This approach not only prepares them for academic success but also equips them with the skills to be productive, responsible members of society. I would plan to build upon these strengths by continuing to enhance our programs and ensuring that the students are well-prepared for both their careers and their future educational pursuits while also safe.
I believe that every child has the right to a free and appropriate public education. I hope that my service on the school board will help to ensure that all of the students in our district are put in the best position to be successful. I believe that this can be done in a fiscally responsible way that achieves positive outcomes for students without placing an undue burden on the taxpayers of the district.
I have strongly rooted principles and beliefs. However, I also have a long history of a willingness to listen to the opinions of others and to take their opinions into account when making decisions. It is important to be able to maintain your convictions while being willing to adapt on actions where common ground can be achieved.
My highest priority and responsibility as a school board director is to provide a safe environment for students that is conducive to learning. My next priority is to ensure that students have access to rigorous academic programming appropriate for their needs. This includes access to technology that will best prepare them for additional education and/or the workplace. Athletics and extracurricular activities are important elements of a public school education that benefit students and help to enhance the district's attractiveness to families choosing a district to educate their children.
I have been an educational advocate for more than 25 years. I have supported families and students to ensure all students have access to a free and appropriate public education. I will continue to support students and families by advocating for policies and programs that further these goals.
