Education, Experience
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Albright College; Reading Area Community College Outstanding Alumni; Reading School Board Director and President; Pennsylvania Commission for Women, Appointment by Governor of PA; Berks County Children & Youth Advisory Board Member
I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Albright College. This proved to be useful with the knowledge I gained when I was twice elected as Reading School Board member. As chair of the Personnel committee, I partook of contract negotiations. During my 8+ year tenure on the board, I also reviewed multi million dollar budgets. The experience I attained and the knowledge and skills I acquired over the years would help me make decisions regarding borough business.
I am running for the office of borough council because I would like to give back to the community. My husband and I have resided in Laureldale for over 20 years. We’ve enjoyed and raised our two daughters in this the quiet working class community. We work very near the Borough where we reside for a number of years. I want to advocate for what the overall constituency needs. I am willing to listen and help work through issues to resolve concerns that may arise.
I want to advocate for initiatives that sustain and/or enhance businesses in our community to increase our tax base. I want to have a voice on Council to ensure we budget accordingly to improve the quality of life we currently enjoy while maintaining taxes affordable for all, particularly seniors and working class. I want to work with council to maintain and improve health and safety services, including but not limited to, fire, police and codes enforcement for my family and 4,000+ neighbors.
I have not researched the topic enough to make an informed decision on the hazards fluoridation in public water supplies poses to human health. It is my understanding the Borough is supplied water services from the Muhlenberg Township Authority. I would be willing to have thorough discussion about the pros and cons of the fluoridation. Ultimately, I would follow the law and abide by what our water supplier agrees.
