1. The Impact of Charter and Cyber Charter Schools--We must work to reform the funding structure for these schools to ensure fairness and accountability. 2. Attracting & Retaining Qualified Teachers - We need to drectly engage with teachers and staff to understand their wants and needs, than take concrete steps to address them. 3. Funding --We must advocate for increased and equitable funding from Harrisburg. Push for a more transparent and fair system that prioritizes student needs and educatio
Yes, I have long been advocating for the creation of a new course at the high school level called LIFE -an acronym that stands for Learning Important Fundamentals for Everyday Living. This course would focus on essential life skills such as cooking simple meals, managing personal finances understand civic responsibilities, solving common household problems, and basic car maintenance. These are the kinds of practical, real-world skills that empower students as they transition into adulthood.
Our current curriculum does not sufficiently address the role of emerging technologies like AI and Zoom in the classroom. To better serve students and bridge existing gaps, it is essential to review and update institutional policies on these technologies. This will ensure that we are not only keeping pace with innovation but also providing equitable, effective and forward-thinking

I’m running for school board to bring student-focused leadership to Boyertown. As a life long educator, department chair, parent of two BASD students, taxpayer, and community volunteer, I understand what families, teachers, and students need. I’ll work for safe schools, strong academics, and responsible spending. I have no political agenda, just a passion for restoring trust, transparency, and excellence in our schools. It’s time for new leadership and a brighter future for Boyertown.
The top challenges facing school boards include balancing academic excellence with fiscal responsibility, addressing the teacher shortage and staffing needs, and maintaining aging, overcrowded facilities. In Boyertown, inflation and increased student needs intensify these pressures. The board must invest in classrooms, support and retain high-quality teachers/staff, and ensure schools are safe, modern, and well-maintained, while being financially transparent and always putting students first.
Yes, schools should better prepare students for adulthood by emphasizing life skills that foster independence and responsibility. Expanding programs like Family and Consumer Science and Technology Education, which cover financial literacy, career readiness, and problem-solving, can help students gain real-world skills. Additionally, offering trade career alternatives to college will provide students with diverse opportunities, ensuring they are ready for the workforce and lifelong learning.
As a current classroom teacher, I see the value of emerging technologies in our classrooms. These tools offer exciting opportunities for personalized instruction and virtual experiences, collaboration, and global connections. However, it’s essential we teach our student responsible technology literacy. Helping students use these tools safely and ethically. Schools must also prepare students to be global technology citizens, understanding the impact of their online actions on a broader scale.
Education, Experience Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, 23 years of experience in public education as a math teacher and as a principal
Qualifications A community member with two children who graduated from the BASD. A devoted educator with a passion for learning.
My twenty-three years of public school service as a math teacher and then as an administrator have been a rewarding experience. I have gained wisdom in my set backs and have been inspired by the fruitful collaborations with stakeholders. It has been an awesome journey, one that has prepared me for service as an effective School Director. I will continue to be a good listener, thoughtful, and compassionate. I will ALWAYS place what's best for children at the heart and core of my framework.
My education has been a 'game changer' in my life. I am very fortunate to have received an outstanding education in the public schools of Pennsylvania. It has made ALL the difference in my life's projectory and in the lives of my children. I believe ALL children have a fundamental right to quality education in our public school system. My years of experience as a math teacher and then later as a passionate school administrator at all three levels of learning have prepared me for this position.
In many districts, school boards face severe challenges due to limited sources of revenue to support quality student programming, adequate staffing, and facility maintenance. Student safety is also a primary issue. More children are experiencing mental health issues that require extensive support/strategies to facilitate their well-being. The possible shutdown of the Department of Education has fostered trepidation in strategic planning. Divergent thought and fiduciary care are crucial responses
A quality, social-emotional-academic education provides a strong foundation for preparing students for adulthood. With an emphasis on critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies, educators can prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood. Service projects and advisory/mentoring programs are examples of how educators can also introduce students to a wide variety of topics of interest.
Emerging Technologies are quickly becoming an integral aspect in all areas of our society. Our young students must prepare for a 21st-century global marketplace and workforce. AI and Zoom provides opportunities to connect with different cultures, to participate in problem-solving discussions and multi-tiered projects involving diverse perspectives. They are a vital, necessary component for a quality, education experience.
