City councils in Texas each have specific responsibilities unique to their city. Duties of a city council generally include setting the tax rate, approving a budget, adopting local ordinances, and managing land transactions. City councils plan and oversee public services and facilities: police and fire protection; health and sanitation services; animal control; street construction and maintenance; garbage collection and disposal; transportation systems; recreational facilities; parking; airports; jails; parks and zoos; libraries and museums; hospitals and emergency services; building codes/zoning; and water and sewage service. City council members may also elect other municipal officers or appoint citizens to serve on boards and commissions.

I have been on the Saginaw City Council for 3 3-year terms. I feel that I am making a positive contribution toward the responsible growth of our City. My background as a volunteer in City Government as mentioned above, and my 3 terms on the City Council qualify me for this position. I have over 3 decades doing this work.
In Saginaw, we allow any resident to comment on any item on the agenda. We have a history of transparency to the public. For example, we are holding 3 separate Town Hall Meetings to discuss the 3 items on our Bond Election. Our City Manager makes himself or his Senior Staff available to any resident who has questions.
My understanding is that our State and Federal Governments have virtually put an end to any DEI programs, unfortunately.
I would not be in favor of ICE coming into our community.
The Bond Election that will be on the ballot for the May 2nd Election is key to the continuing progress that is required in order to positively impact the quality of life in Saginaw. I believe in continuous improvement, and these 3 propositions are vital for that goal. They are; Proposition A, streets; Proposition B, Parks, and Proposition C, Animal Shelter. I will be campaigning for the passing of each of these Propositions while I am campaigning for my re-election.
