Keller ISD Board of Trustees, Place 5

Trustees are elected to specific positions but represent their entire independent school district and have the following responsibilities mandated by State and Federal laws: select and employ the superintendent, manage public schools, establish operating policies, monitor expenses, adopt and approve a budget, and adopt employment policies. Additionally, they have the authority to set tax rates, levy and collect taxes, buy and sell property, exercise eminent domain, accept donations, charge fees, and call bond elections. Trustees elect their own officers: President or Chair, (Vice president or vice chair), Secretary and Treasurer.

Occupation Engineer
I'm a product of Texas public schools. I graduated from Klein High School, where I was honored to be a National Merit Scholar. I then went on to the University of Houston, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor/Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. I am currently an engineer and program manager at a large defense contractor. I'm also an Eagle Scout.
As an engineer and a program manager, I’ve led large teams, managed millions of dollars and solved a lot of tough problems. I believe that I’ve got the right analytical, leadership and logistical skills to help “right the ship” and get Keller ISD back on track. I'm also a lifelong learner, and I look forward to "digging in" with our exceptional administration and teaching staff to solve the problems facing our district.
ICE and Border Patrol agents have little to no business on school campuses. We must comply with the law, but our students have rights that must be protected. The district needs to have clear policies if agents arrive at our schools: district legal counsel should be contacted immediately, and agents should not have access to nonpublic areas, students or records without a valid legal authority or parental consent. Administrative warrants issued by the agency (as opposed to a judge) don't count.
At board meetings, I will continue the policies that are in place today. Any community member can sign up to speak at any board meeting as they wish. I also believe in empowering community-led committees to help chart our course as one unified KISD. The board must take committee input seriously and clearly communicate any long-term plans in advance. When we face challenges together, our district will emerge stronger.
Parents have the right to restrict materials for their individual children, but that should not extend to all children in the district. I trust our librarians and teachers to select age-appropriate materials for libraries and classrooms. Books that are challenged should be reviewed based on the district's library collection policies and removed only if a clear violation has occurred.
The first issue is that our student population will decline by as much as 10% in the next 3 years. Funding will decline too. We must utilize community-led committees to help chart a path forward as one unified KISD. The second issue is teacher retention. We must address pay and culture issues, listen to, work with and defend educators. The third issue is our crumbling facilities. We must pass a bond package, and then make sure that projects are prioritized properly and completed on-budget.

Occupation Aerospace Sales
I earned a BSBA in Marketing from Creighton University, with a focus in Business Intelligence and Analytics. I bring 13 years of business experience, including municipal government acquisition and negotiation. My service includes leadership with Keller ISD’s School Health Advisory Council and All Pro Dad, plus three years coaching high school hockey in Texas and Illinois.
My work as an aerospace professional, pilot, coach, and community leader has prepared me to solve complex problems, scrutinize spending, and bring people together around a common mission. As chair of Keller ISD’s School Health Advisory Council, I work with families and educators. Before asking for any vote, I invested my time in our community. I will bring preparation, fiscal discipline, and accountability to serving every part of Keller ISD.
I support lawful immigration enforcement and every child’s right to a safe education. Immigration enforcement should not become a routine campus function or a teacher’s responsibility. If federal agents seek campus access, administrators should coordinate with legal counsel and our local law enforcement partners to verify authority, protect student privacy, and minimize disruption. Schools must follow the law, treat every student with dignity, and remain focused on learning.
Public input must come while decisions can still change. I will seek public explanations of major proposals, alternatives, costs, and student impacts before planned votes, with earlier engagement for closures and boundary changes. I will support accessible meeting materials, public comments, written feedback, and community meetings across Keller ISD. The district will explain how feedback shaped decisions and how any emergencies required a shorter timeline.
I support age appropriate materials, parental rights, and consistent review procedures that follow Texas law and Board Policy. Students deserve access to educational materials, but we need clear ways to raise concerns. Proposed library purchases should be public before approval as required by law. Challenges should receive review under published standards, a written decision, and a clear appeal process. Protecting students requires careful evaluation, transparency, and respect for families.
My priorities are restoring trust, stronger academics, and responsible spending. I opposed splitting Keller ISD and would seek voter approval protections. I support releasing district legal invoices with required redactions and ending the disclosure lawsuit. I would target a four percentage point gain in third grade reading proficiency in three years, publicly rank facility needs, and review spending before cutting important needs. Every commitment needs measurable results and reliable funding.
