With 20 years of experience in Human Resources, I bring a strong background in strategic planning, conflict resolution, employee relations, and policy development to the school board. Since being appointed to the board in October 2024, I have supported fair, effective decision-making and have fostered positive communication between stakeholders. I am a strong advocate for securing adequate funding for our schools and work to ensure that educators and families have a voice in shaping our district's future. My professional and board experience has equipped me to navigate complex challenges and promote policies that support student success, staff well-being, and a thriving school community.
School districts are obligated to comply with federal and state education laws, including those that impact curriculum, funding, and accountability. However, student safety must always come first. I believe every student deserves to learn in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and valued. While I respect the legal framework we operate within, I will always stand up for academic freedom and the right of educators to teach honest inclusive content - even when that commitment challenges federal or state directives. My priority is protecting students' well-being and ensuring schools remain places of truth, growth, and opportunity for all.
Our schools face urgent challenges that demand immediate, thoughtful action. I am committed to advocating for increased funding to prevent teacher and staff layoffs - our educators are the heart of our schools. I will work to build community support for a bond measure to make critical repairs to our schools to ensure safe, functional learning environments. Additionally, I will prioritize early literacy by supporting evidence-based programs and resources that help every child build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. These are essential steps to protect our schools, support our staff, and ensure student success.
