I am committed to Brookline. Now serve as a precinct 3 Town Meeting member, member of the Climate Action Brookline board and on the Electrify Brookline team of CAB, Brookline Mothers Out Front and ZEAB, the town's Zero Admission Advisory Board to advance a town wide, neighborhood by neighborhood campaign to transition our residences and vehicles out of fossil fuels. Also served on the boards of the Brookline Community Foundation, the Brookline GreenSpace Alliance and member of the Brookline Park and Recreation Commission.
I have been a community activist since moving to precinct 3 in 1983. I have focused on concerns including street safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles, engaged in development challenges for places like the Bertram Inn and the 40B project at 83 Longwood Ave. Lawrence Park is a school, after school, recreation and community/neighborhood crossroads where adults and kids play, walk, stroll, rest and gather. We need to educate and uplift our community and build a healthy future. We need to communicate and advocate for both precinct and town issues and encourage residents to get involved.

I settled in Brookline in 1992 after living in several countries & traveling widely. I’ve represented precinct 3 since 2008 and co-founded Brookline Town Meeting Green Caucus in 2011. The intersection of the climate crisis; the housing crisis; racial and ethnic divisiveness; and economic disparities are our most pressing issues. I am committed to addressing these challenges as they impact our Town and our precinct.
Precinct 3 includes apartment dwellers, multi-family and single family homes. Lawrence School and Park lie at our center and two temples are immediately adjacent. Since 2008, I have represented my neighbors in parking, zoning and development issues that arise out of the complex character of our precinct. I take concerns to town boards and commissions, including the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Transportation Board. I take it as my responsibility to advise the precinct regarding issues and information that affect Precinct 3 and the Town via email and phone calls.

Endorsed by Brookline by Design and PAX.
A TMM has a responsibility to educate herself on issues contained in the Warrant, attend all Town Meetings, and vote! In representing Precinct 3, I do my best to evaluate proposed resolutions, by-laws, and budgetary policies with an eye to safeguarding and advancing the well-being of our P3 neighborhood community while promoting the flourishing of the Town as a whole. Successful representation requires good communication. I look forward to engaging with P3 constituents with the help of our Precinct 3 website; the Lawrence Neighborhood Association mailing list; informal meet-ups in the park; and, soon, through the robust inclusive public engagement process of our Comprehensive Planning effort set to kick off this spring.

Architect, climate advocate, and mother of three, I live on Francis St. with my family. I have had the honor of serving pct 3 in Town Meeting since 2006. I am on the Brookline Zero Emissions Advisory Board, a board member for the Brookline Arts Center, and a leader with Mothers Out Front Brookline. I've worked on campaigns to get Brookline's methane gas leaks fixed and advocated for more renewable energy through the Brookline Green Electricity Program. I've co-petitioned many warrant articles to move Brookline buildings to be fossil fuel free, and for future school building projects to be net-zero energy. Currently I"m working on Electrify Brookline, a town-wide campaign to help residents transition their homes to be fossil fuel free.
My responsibility to my precinct is to bring important town issues to their attention, represent and direct their concerns to appropriate town staff, and advocate for precinct 3 when voting on issues at Town Meeting. I consider myself a liaison between Brookline issues debated at the town level and my precinct 3 neighbors. I frequently post information on our neighborhood listserv about important town issues and information sessions, as well as neighborhood happenings that I think will be of interest. I work with neighbors who need clarification on an issue or point them in a direction to get more information. I am very accessible on the listserv, by email and I am frequently walking my dog around the neighborhood to stop and chat.

My husband and I moved to Brookline in 1999 from Chicago with our (then) young son and daughter. With a graduate degree in public policy and a career in government and policy-focused non-profit work on behalf of women, youth, and families, I have been active in Brookline schools and civic life since we settled in the Lawrence School neighborhood. Briefly: • Town Meeting Member Pct.3 since 2002 • School Committee Member 2005-2016, Chair 2010-2012 • Mom of 2 Lawrence and BHS graduates • Born and raised in NYC; AB Harvard; MPA Princeton • Currently: Brookline Commission for Women (former chair); and Chair, Brookline City Charter Campaign
As a TMM, I’ve tried to keep neighbors informed and involved in local issues, especially those directly affecting our precinct. I've helped build and maintain a precinct website and both use and urge participation in the Lawrence Neighborhood Assoc listserv to share information. But a TMM has a very limited role (to vote at Town Meeting), which diminishes real representation/voice of the precinct in many local decisions. That's one of the reasons I'm working with others across Brookline to elect a Charter Commission. We need that formal process to consider what form of local government can best engage, represent, and be responsive to our diverse residents while providing strong leadership and accountability to meet today's many challenges.
