I want to lower costs for working families, strengthen public education, expand access to affordable health care, and ensure that Wisconsin's economy works for the people who live here. I will focus on policies that help people build stable lives, including expanding access to affordable child care, accepting federal funds to expand BadgerCare, investing in public schools, supporting family farmers and small businesses, and increasing transparency and competition in health care and other essential services.
I am a former educator, a mother of three, and the parent of a child with special needs. Those experiences have given me insight into the challenges so many Wisconsinites face.
Healthcare should be affordable and accessible to every single Wisconsinite. I will work to expand BadgerCare, strengthen protections for patients and providers, and address the growing shortage of health care services in rural communities by working with providers on reimbursement
As a state senator, I will fight to protect and expand access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including contraception, IVF, prenatal care, abortion, and postpartum care. I support codifying reproductive freedom into Wisconsin law
As a former educator and the parent of a child with significant disabilities, this issue is deeply personal to me.
I support increasing state funding for public education so schools can hire and retain qualified teachers and staff, reduce class sizes, expand mental health services, and provide students with the individualized support they need.
The state ought to increase the special education reimbursement rate and ensure schools have the resources necessary to provide legally required services without forcing districts to divert funds from general education programs.
I also support investments in early intervention services, school-based therapies, and workforce development initiatives that help address shortages of support staff.
I support a system where proposed maps are drawn using transparent criteria, including population equality, compliance with the Voting Rights Act, keeping communities of interest together when possible, and minimizing unnecessary partisan influence. The process should include public hearings, opportunities for meaningful public input, and clear disclosure of the data and methodologies used to draw maps. This allows for many voices to be present at the table, making representation more effective for all constituents.
I believe we can support economic growth while protecting people and communities who live there. Large-scale projects like data centers and CAFOs should be subject to strong, transparent standards that protect our environment, local infrastructure, and property rights of taxpayers.
Specifically with data centers, the state should examine water usage, energy demand and strain on the grid, and long-term effects to utlities.
