Access to affordable childcare is a high priority because of the economic ripple of effects from the childcare crisis. Clean water is another important bipartisan issue. As a veterinarian and a business owner, my wheelhouse is problem solving. When we engage experts into the conversation, with sincere effort we can solve complicated problems.
Quality affordable housing for young families and seniors is in short supply. Monitoring the profit margins of developers as well as supporting local control of municipalities looking to solve their unique challenges is the direction we should consider.
We need legislation that lays out a nonpartisan process for legislative map making. It is undemocratic at its heart when the process is left up to the party in power.
Grants and loans for sustainable farming practices are critically important. It's amazing how much we can improve local ecosystems by using our land more wisely. Growing a variety of local produce sustainably improves our health and makes Wisconsin more resilient during critical times when we have supply chain issues like we saw during the COVID pandemic. Converting single crop fields to a more carbon trapping systems takes time and it is in all our best interest to support farmers as they make that transition.
I do not support school vouchers. Tax payer money should not go to religious instruction. Our public school system is based on providing education to all children and the school voucher system bypasses disabled children and puts public funds in private hands. Communities are unique and we should promote funding all schools based on their needs and not purely on test scores. Empowering and supporting teachers is important as well.
