My priority for another term in Congress is to continue to represent working people across Wisconsin and to be a leading progressive voice in the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the past few years, I have championed policies that prioritize working families and the 2nd congressional district in Wisconsin, such as advocating for universal healthcare, affordable housing, and workers' rights. I have been a steadfast supporter of social justice initiatives, including criminal justice reform, fighting for women’s rights and LGBTQI+ equality, and expanding voting rights. Serving on the Appropriations Committee, I have consistently pushed for funding that benefits our community, focusing on education, infrastructure, and social services. Unlike many of my colleagues, I am neither a lawyer nor a millionaire, but I will fight for the average person in all I do, ensuring their voices are heard in Washington.
I will continue to wholeheartedly support Medicare for All to ensure that every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare. I will also not stop fighting drug companies for price gouging patients and will reinforce existing Obamacare benefits for those who count on it. As a member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, I will fight to protect and expand access to reproductive health services, including contraception, IVF, and abortion. After the Supreme Court’s abominable decision to throw out 50 years of precedent by overturning Roe, I am more committed than ever to safeguarding these essential services and will work with my Congressional colleagues to protect and expand federal services that provide access to comprehensive healthcare.
I believe in a fair and humane immigration system that respects the dignity of all individuals while maintaining national security. I support comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, protects DACA recipients, and ensures that asylum seekers are treated with compassion and respect. I will advocate for the end of family separations, fight for reunification, and support measures that improve the conditions in detention facilities. By investing in modernizing our immigration system and addressing the root causes of migration, we can create a more just and efficient process that upholds our values as a nation.
To promote a healthy economy and lower the cost of living, I will continue to support policies that increase wages, expand affordable housing, and reduce the burden of student loan debt. I have been a strong proponent of raising the minimum wage, investing in job training programs, and supporting small businesses. By advocating for fair trade policies and protecting workers' rights, we can ensure that our economy benefits everyone, not just the wealthy few. Additionally, I will push for measures that lower healthcare and prescription drug costs and fight corporate price gouging from raising costs on hard-working folks, making everyday expenses more manageable for Wisconsin families.
I am a proud supporter of efforts to combat climate change and will continue to pursue policies that reduce carbon emissions and promote renewable energy. Over the past few years, I have supported legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that advances clean energy technologies, improves energy efficiency, and protects our natural resources. I will continue to oppose efforts that increase fossil fuel consumption and support those that move our transportation, manufacturing, and building sectors toward more sustainable models. By securing funding for climate research and supporting initiatives that help our agricultural sector adapt to changing conditions, we can build a more resilient Wisconsin that can withstand the impacts of climate change.
