I believe in smart, tenacious, compassionate leadership, and working hard to represent the voices of my district.
Some of the topics I have focused on in my work as a legislator include:
Mental Healthcare Is Healthcare legislation
Fair Maps
Supporting our public schools
Supporting teachers
Quality affordable childcare
Expanding mammogram affordability and access
Restoring Reproductive Freedom
Ending gun violence
Combatting domestic violence
Protecting kids from human trafficking
Maternal and infant health
Postpartum Medicaid Expansion
Expanding the conversation on menopause
Go Big for Small Business portal
Epinephrine affordability
Forward on Climate legislation
Universal Changing Stations bill--making the world more accessible
And more!
Wisconsin is facing an affordability, workforce, and accessibility housing crisis and we need to respond with urgency to all three of these areas of housing needs.
I was the author of the Fair Maps bills shortly after I was first election. I believe in nonpartisan redistricting, and that politicians should not be rigging maps. Voters should choose their elected officials, not the other way around. I am committed to a future with fair maps.
Each of my 3 terms in office I have been committed to combatting climate change, and have sponsored and cosponsored bills to do just that. I am so very proud of my 100% rating from the Wisconsin Conservation Voters, and my "Conservation Champion" award from the same group.
I wrote the Save Our Schools bill this legislative session in an effort to save districts from going to referendum to survive. My bill increases Special Education funding reimbursement to 90%. We should be clear: the Wisconsin constitution guarantees every child a right to an adequately funded education, and it's the job of legislators to ensure that right. Public schools are the hearts of our neighborhoods and communities and I will continue to champion our students, our teachers, and our schools!
