There are several things I would love to area while in office, but the three issues I think I can get bipartisan support for are as follows. Healthcare, this includes WOMEN'S healthcare, access to healthcare, and lowering prescription drug prices. Education, for too long we've been tearing away funding for public schools and putting that in the private sector. We also need to ensure we are paying teachers not only a liveable wage but also reflective of the hard work they do. Lastly I would like to focus on something most others don't ever think about. Our 911 system. Only those involved in 911 or those making funding decisions are aware of how underfunded our 911 system is. We need to mandate funding for police, fire, and EMS to ensure that all small and rural towns have access to emergency 911.
Unfortunately this is more of a State level issue. I will be pushing for federal legislation to protect IVF, all forms of contraception, and enshrine abortion Rights for all Americans.
For starters I wouldn't vote against a bill I had helped write and previously supported just because a 34 times convicted felon told me to. We badly need updates to our immigration policy and desperately need funding for the courts and authorities that deal with these cases day in and day out.
Very simple, I would make sure that everyone pays their fair share of taxes including corporations. There is absolutely no reason that corporations and the obscenely rich should have a lower tax rate than the average working class family.
We need a robust overhaul of how we think of energy as a country. This is something my parents generation needed to take care of, but here we are and that is part of why I decided to run. We need immediate aggressive action by our elected leaders to make sure we even have a planet to pass down to our kids and grandkids. The inaction of previous generations and leaders is why we now need to take aggressive action now!
