My priorities are strong communities, safe streets, great school, economic opportunity, and accountable, transparent government. I believe families deserve quality schools, safe neighborhoods, good-paying jobs, and responsive public officials. My qualifications include more than 30 years of leadership as a teacher, principal, district administrator, nonprofit founder, state education official, and gubernatorial appointee. These experiences have given me firsthand knowledge of how policy affects communities and the skills to build partnerships, solve problems, manage resources, and deliver results for the residents of District 11.
One of Wisconsin’s most pressing housing challenges is the shortage of safe, affordable housing for working families, seniors, and individuals on fixed incomes. Rising housing costs have outpaced income growth, making it difficult for many residents to find stable housing. I support policies that increase the housing supply, streamline regulatory barriers that unnecessarily delay construction, and promote public-private partnerships. I also support efforts to expand homeownership opportunities, preserve existing affordable housing, and strengthen local initiatives that address housing needs.
Wisconsin voters deserve a redistricting process that is transparent, fair, and designed to promote public confidence. I support a process that includes clear, objective criteria, meaningful public input, and compliance with state and federal law. Regardless of the specific model adopted, the process should minimize partisan influence, maximize transparency, and ensure that voters choose their representatives rather than representatives choosing their voters.
Every student deserves access to a high-quality education, including students with disabilities. I support ensuring that schools have the resources necessary to meet students' academic, social, emotional, and special education needs. This includes advocating for responsible funding, supporting and retaining qualified educators and specialized staff, and promoting evidence-based practices that improve student outcomes. As a former teacher, principal, district administrator, and state education official, I understand the challenges schools face and will work to ensure resources are used effectively to help all students succeed.
Any proposed project should be evaluated through a transparent, fact-based process that considers both potential benefits and potential impacts. I support ensuring that existing laws, regulations, and permitting requirements and/or guardrails are applied consistently and that affected communities have meaningful opportunities to provide input. Sound decision-making should be guided by credible data, responsible oversight, and a balanced consideration of economic, environmental, and community interests.
