I am running to restore the trust that people have lost in their representatives. A lot of folks feel like all politicians do is fight and get nothing done, I am running to send the Wisconsin values I was raised on back to Madison. Values like honesty, integrity, empathy, respect, and hard work. I am committed to fully funding our public schools from early childhood, K-12, and higher education, this includes investing in apprenticeship programs. I will work to restore collective bargaining rights in order to support our middle class. I will work to expand rural healthcare access and protect those with pre-existing conditions. I will work to invest in good infrastructure so that Wisconsinites don’t have to swerve around potholes to get home. Clean water, free from forever chemicals and nitrates, is not something everyone has in the 24th, and I will work to change that. Wisconsin has always been on the front lines of democracy, and it is time to get back to what put us on the map.
The biggest issue in terms of housing that I see is availability and affordability. Good, affordable housing to rent or own is unattainable for many in the 24th District. We need to find a way to bring the cost of living into line with what people can actually afford. We need to encourage the construction of affordable housing units, smaller starter homes for young families, and rethink the way that we develop our cities. We must also support our municipalities and school districts so that they are not forced to raise property taxes and drive up housing costs even more.
We need to create a healthcare system that is not based on treating a sick person, but on making sure a person is healthy and stays healthy. This includes expanding access to affordable preventive health care. Healthcare is not about going to a doctor when you can’t walk anymore, or when you can’t talk anymore, or after the heart attack, it is about catching these issues early. We must reform our healthcare system to build on the protections for those who have pre-existing conditions. We must accept Medicaid expansion because it is our money. I’m not interested in playing games with peoples’ lives. In terms of a woman’s right to choose, I’m pro-freedom. I was raised to believe that the decisions a person makes about their health and their body is an issue that is of the highest priority and the highest privacy. A woman should be able to decide what is best for herself, and she should decide who are the best people to include in that decision. I am pro-choice, and I am pro-freedom.
The first step would be to stop treating public education as the enemy and to give them the resources they deserve. We need to pull the money that the state is giving to vouchers and put them back into our public schools. Public tax dollars should go to public schools. Funding is not the only solution to this problem, the core of how we educate our students needs to be updated to reflect the idea that not everyone learns the same and that we must produce students who are prepared for their futures, whether that be entering the workforce, starting a business, going to a four year university, a technical college, the military, or going into a trade.

I am in full support of a non-partisan redistricting committee that does not include any partisan politicians. The people are supposed to elect their representatives, but for the past decade it has been the other way around. Wisconsin, until recently, had the most gerrymandered maps in the United States. That is unacceptable, and it has led to many of the issues we are facing in this state today. I am of the belief that elected officials should have to actually earn the votes of the people they represent. Wisconsin is a purple state. Our legislature and other elected officials should reflect that.
