To work for the working people of Wisconsin. Making sure folks have affordable housing, affordable and accessible healthcare (including mental healthcare and reproductive healthcare), childcare and well funded public schools. I will fight to make sure that all people have safe working conditions, the right to collective bargaining and the ability for family supporting wages. In addition to these priorities, we also need to make sure to strengthen our democracy by making sure that all those who are legal able to vote have the opportunity to vote.
We simply don't have enough housing units for the people in Wisconsin. We need to build more units but they also need to be the right units for the population of the area. No one should have to spend 50% of their income on housing. The other topic regarding housing that I think will be a crisis shortly is the fact that younger people have been shut out of home ownership. Because of massive student debt, young people today cannot take on more loans. This will shut them out of the generation wealth that comes home ownership.
I believe that we need to find the Wisconsin model that will work best for Wisconsin. It needs to be similar to the Iowa model but we have unique challenges that Iowa doesn't so the exacts of their model doesn't quite work for us. However, the basics of having a non-partisan group introduce a map and then it goes to the legislature for approval or changes is the core of what I like.
We should allow local laws that can ban plastics single use. But the biggest change we need is allowing scientists in the DNR to make the rules they need to make sure our air, water and land is here and safe for generations to come.
We need to make sure public schools are fully funded including special education. Our schools are the bedrock of most communities in Wisconsin and we cannot continue to fund a separate system that is not accountable to the public for use of public dollars (vouchers system)
