The Council enacts policies, adopts ordinances and resolutions, establishes the annual budget to provide services to the public, sets the city tax rate, and sets water, electric and wastewater rates for San Marcos. The City Council operates under the City Charter adopted by the citizens of San Marcos.

San Marcos fire dept and smpd
I have been a council member in the past and hold office currently. I have a degree in criminal justice and was an AirForce vet. I am a rights candidate and focus on less governmental red tape. I have helped with our cities budget with keeping it as conservative and affordable as it can be.
Less red tape and lower utility cost.
Leave it to the federal government to handle.
We currently have rules that cover respect during council meetings. Everyone can participate.
I voted against data centers because the use of water and power required to operate then.
While I have not served in an elected position like City Council, I have studied, worked, and experienced what life would be like in a position such as this. I have Political Science Bachelors and Political Management Masters degrees. Since entering college in 2016, I have been working on various campaigns ranging from the local, state, and federal levels in differing degrees. My day to day job has also put me in the midst of government day to day operations as a Project Manager specializing in grants. All of these experiences combined have made me uniquely qualified to serve as a City Council member.
My campaign consists of three pillars: the environment, affordable housing, and local/small business support. If I had to choose two to prioritize, I would say the environment and affordable housing because through improving and assisting these issues, we can bring more business to San Marcos and continue supporting our local/small businesses.
San Marcos City Council should be focused on protecting its residents and building trust within the community. Now, more than ever, it is vital our community comes together and stands firm in its fight against unjust and unruly actions that undermine the safety and dignity of ALL our residents. Our City Council and law enforcement should prioritize the responsibility of keeping our entire community safe so that our residents feel comfortable seeking help, reporting issues, and engaging with local government regardless of immigration status.
Residents should have a seat at the table, period. Residents are the ones being directly impacted by the decisions of City Council. Therefore, it is vital to ensure residents are respected as stakeholders in city decisions. Some guidelines I would recommend revolve around how we are intaking public opinion. While it is great we have amazing staff to write down each comment, I think there should be some sort of electronic system that can tally where people's opinions are so that resident input can truly be taken into account in the moment and in the room where decisions are made.
With its nature and activities, it is no wonder why San Marcos is growing as fast as it is. That rapid growth presents opportunity, but also great responsibility to ensure our infrastructure and resources can support it. Growth should not outpace the basic services our residents depend on. That's why, before approving any major developments, we should be asking whether we as a city have the capacity to support it. It is vital we grow responsibly as to not sacrifice the basic necessities that we hold dear. I am not opposed to growth in San Marcos, but I want to ensure that growth is good for both current and future San Martians.
