For the past 21 years, I have served as the Administrator of the same primary care medical practice, gaining extensive experience in healthcare administration, financial management, strategic planning, and operational leadership.
My responsibilities include developing and implementing efficient office workflows, creating policies and protocols, managing budgets, and overseeing billing, collections, payroll, human resources, recruitment, and employee development. I also oversee information technology systems, including network infrastructure, electronic health records, and the integration of billing and clearinghouse payment platforms to ensure efficient, compliant operations.
If approved, Amendment 3 would likely create significant financial challenges for counties and healthcare organizations that depend on public funding. Addressing those challenges will require careful planning, transparency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
I believe the budget planning process should remain disciplined and data-driven, with a focus on protecting essential healthcare services whenever possible. The Board should work collaboratively with hospitals, community clinics, county leadership, and other stakeholders to identify efficiencies, eliminate unnecessary expenditures, and prioritize programs that provide the greatest benefit to the community.
Funding decisions should be based on objective, measurable criteria that ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively and equitably. I would consider the following factors: the number of patients served and the population affected; the level of demonstrated community need, particularly for underserved and uninsured residents; the organization's financial stewardship and accountability; and the availability of alternative funding sources, including grants and private funding. The goal should be to invest in organizations that demonstrate both a significant community impact and a commitment to using public funds responsibly. Every funding decision should ultimately improve access to quality healthcare while ensuring long-term sustainability.
I strongly believe in the important role community clinics play in providing preventive and primary care services. Our medical practice works alongside community agencies to help bridge the gap for uninsured patients who may not qualify for community programs but still need access to healthcare.
When individuals cannot obtain routine primary care, they often delay treatment until their conditions become emergencies. I believe the best investment we can make is in accessible, preventive healthcare that keeps people healthy before they require more costly interventions. Every dollar matters, and every resident deserves leadership focused on both fiscal responsibility and compassionate care.
