Texas County Courts at Law are trial courts with concurrent jurisdiction over many cases with the district courts and county courts in the county. The County Courts at Law were created by the Texas Legislature for the counties with larger populations to aid the single county court in its judicial functions. Each of the county courts at law was established by an individual statute; they vary widely in scope.County Court at Law No. 6 handles exclusively civil law cases and juvenile law cases. Civil law cases include injury or damage related to motor vehicles, medical malpractice, other professional malpractice or product liability, cases involving real property, such as eminent domain, as well as cases related to consumer or business debt and delinquent taxes. Juvenile law cases are criminal cases involving juveniles.
