I support legislation for a path to full citizenship for Dreamers that will not change from one Administration to another. Dreamers are the undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and are eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. I would also support legislation for a path to full citizenship for the immigrant spouses of natural born citizens that have been married 10 or more years and live full time in the United States. I support a humane and orderly system for asylum seekers that does not separate families or send them back to the countries they fled without a fair hearing. We need enhanced border security and more judges to process asylum seekers.
Climate change is the biggest threat to our nation's economy. The increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and droughts can cause massive damage to infrastructure, agricultural productivity, and homes. The costs of recovery and rebuilding can drain financial resources, disrupt businesses, and lead to significant economic losses. Climate change has a direct adverse economic impact on agriculture, healthcare costs, labor productivity, insurance and property costs, energy costs, housing shortages due to displacement from major weather events.
