VOTE411 Voter Guide

I have served as District 5 Supervisor on the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Board since 2017. I am Treasurer chairing the Finance Committee. I regularly attend the North Cannon Watershed Management Organization meetings, a watershed in the southern part of the county. I have a long history of public service as both a county supervisor (commissioner) and school board member in another state. I served for 23 years on various boards/commissions in Northfield, where I live. I also was appointed by the governor to serve on the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources in 2020. I am always prepared. I ask probing questions. I am a trusted colleague with my fellow board members. And I show up at meetings and other venues of interest to those in the conservation community. I believe that clean water and preservation of our soil are important values for those of us who live here. And I am committed to landowner programs and broad community education to keep it that way.

Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District works in partnership with our county, private homeowners and landowners, cities and schools to promote our responsibility to maintain practices to keep our water clean and our soils healthy. Partners, working together, accomplish far more than working alone.

Strong relationships with Dakota County, cities, townships, faith communities, school personnel, community-based groups, higher education faculty and other conservation-interest groups are imperative as we work to value and preserve our surface and groundwater supplies. Our talented staff uses the latest science-based information to advise and support landowners and homeowners as they attempt to improve the landscape. As a board member, I encourage this work. And I support funding proposals to both public and private organizations to make these programs and projects possible.
