I have more than 50 years experience as a licensed insurance agent. For more than 35 years I have volunteered my time working on real affordable health insurance reforms. I also have 7 years experience as a field auditor for the Pennsylvania Auditor General's office in the 1970s and 1980s. I hope to serve on the Labor, Health and Social Services Committee and the Management Audit Committee where I can provide my knowledge, experience and ideas.
I support the reduction of residential property taxes; which is the most unfair tax of all as most people's homes do not produce income; only expenses. I support backfill and would support a change in the first 4% sales tax as a 50/50 split between the state and local communities with an adjustment for rural counties that do not have significant commercial business to generate sales taxes
As much as possible, public lands should not be sold. I do favor transfers of more Wyoming land from federal to state management where our local folks can do a better job than Washington bureaucrats.
I would not favor changing the formula. However, I am concerned about the amount of money being spent and the lack of results for so many of our students. Public education cannot fail and needs much improvement. Parents should have options to choose the best education for their children whether that be public, private or home schooling.
As much as possible taxpayer funds should only promote efforts to raise people out of poverty rather than dependency. Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for able-bodied individuals who refuse to carry their weight and become self-reliant
