To ensure that appointment decisions serve the best interests of the community, I support the current process in which the Central Committee appoints a qualified individual to fill a vacancy. The purpose of this system is to make sure that the district is not left without representation while a lengthy election process takes place.

Central Committee members are elected from within the district and are familiar with the community, its leadership, and the issues that matter most to residents.
I support a transparent process where candidates can present their qualifications and vision. I look for someone who reflects the needs and values of the community, understands the district’s issues, and has established trust. Important qualities include dedication, accountability, credibility, strong communication skills, the ability to work with legislators, commitment to Democratic values, and the courage to advocate against injustices in our communities.
My professional background has prepared me for this work. For the past 24 years, I have worked with individuals with disabilities, helping them navigate systems, access services, and advocate for the support they need to live healthy and productive lives. That experience has taught me the value of advocacy, collaboration, and compassion when working with individuals and families.

These Democratic principles—fairness, opportunity, and the belief that change begins with the people motivates me.
In our district, leaders like Senator Hettleman and Delegates Stein and Cardin have focused on issues that matter deeply to our community, including environmental protection and climate action, health and education, taxes, transportation, public safety, housing stability, and consumer protection within our justice system. These issues affect families every day, and they would be important considerations when I make an appointment decision.

It is my firm belief that, whenever possible voters should decide who represents them. Special elections give the public that chance and strengthen trust in the process. If any variables, such as timing , makes an appointment necessary, the decision should be transparent and focused on selecting someone who reflects the values and priorities of the district.
I would look for someone with a real record of service in the community, not just political ambition. The person should understand the district, be accessible to residents, and show integrity in how they work with others. Most of all, I would value character. Everyone makes mistakes, but showing that you have learned from them and being honest is critical for leadership. I would also value the ability to listen, bring people together, and advocate effectively for constituents in Annapolis.
In addition to having been passionately involved in local politics as a youth, so much so that I got my MPM from George Washington University. I’m running because I want to help strengthen the connection between our community and the Democratic Party. The Central Committee plays an important role in supporting candidates, organizing locally, and keeping people engaged in the process. I want to contribute energy, fairness, and a focus on making sure our party reflects the people it represents.
Simply put, good decisions come from listening to the people. I would review each candidate’s experience, speak with community members and local leaders, and consider who is best prepared to represent the district right away. My focus would always be on choosing someone who will be honest, put the community first and work hard to earn and maintain the trust of the people they serve.
Yes, the authority to recommend a successor is not simply an internal party matter, it is a public trust granted by the voters who elected the Central Committee ito serve. It is the responsibility of the Central Committee is to ensure that the individual recommended to complete the term is someone who reflects the values, priorities, and expectations of the voters of Baltimore County. The ultimate goal is to ensure continuity of representation and confidence in the democratic process.
The appointment should reflect the values priorities and policies directions that the voters supported in the last election. The individual recommended to fill the vacancy should be someone who is prepared to serve immediately and effectively in the General Assembly. This would include understanding legislative processes and representing the full diversity of Baltimore County. The selected individual should strengthen the party’s ability to govern effectively while representing all constituents.
I am motivated to serve because a trait of a good leader is what they give to the community. Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor to serve-from 10 yrs in the US Marine Corps to working alongside dedicated public servants, across 3 military branches, federal agencies and in my communities. These experiences taught me the importance of professionalism, accountability and putting the mission and the people first. District 11B deserves leadership that listens and works in their best interest.
I will always consider who will best serve the residence of District 11B? The person appointed would reflect the needs, priorities and values of the community. The person selected would have experience, judgment and the work ethic necessary to step into the role and perform effectively from day one. Appointments would be made through a fair and thoughtful process. As an elected member of the Central Committee I am accountable to make appointments with integrity and transparency.

No. Governor Larry Hogan put us in a terrible financial position before he left office. We cannot afford to hold special elections every time a member of the General Assembly dies or resigns.
When I interview potential candidates, my questions usually center on contemporary issues including but not limited to education, the environment, transportation, law enforcement and transparency.
The current administration in Washington is destroying our government, our economy, our society and our Constitution. The best place for me to be to fight these developments is the Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee.
In my previous three terms, I have sent Carl Jackson, Charles Sydnor and Shelly Hettleman to the State Senate, and Cathi Forbes, Kim Ross and Sheila Ruth to the State House. I think the stellar performance of these outstanding individuals in Annapolis speaks for itself.

While special elections are the more democratic option when a vacancy occurs, the resources and cost to undergo a special election must be a consideration. I believe that a thorough cost-benefit analysis would be required before making a decision. In a period of time when there is a substantial statewide budgetary deficit, the potential added resource strain must be a factor in making any changes. The Central Committees act to fill these vacancies in respect to their party’s agenda.
Any candidate for Maryland General Assembly needs to demonstrate knowledge of local and statewide issues, have a proven track record of responsible leadership and judicious decision making, show dedication to advocating for the well-being of the people of Maryland, and have a character that reflects community- and consensus-building.
I’m a parent, community member, and lifelong advocate for fairness, opportunity, and safety. I have dedicated my academic and professional life to serving people and using facts and data to inform better policy and community services. I am a public servant by profession, and am passionate about extending my efforts to help my community and stand by my convictions. Maryland is my home, Baltimore County is my home, and I wish to serve in a greater capacity for the betterment of that home.
I believe in doing my homework and getting to know people. Any potential appointee must be thoroughly vetted and interviewed in order to learn more about their previous leadership, community engagement, and business decisions. Any potential appointee must have a proven record of positive effect on the community, and must be a servant of the people at heart.
