I 100% support giving voters a stronger voice in filling vacancies when possible. Special elections can increase transparency and allow our residents to directly choose their representatives. However, when timing or cost makes that difficult, the Central Committee must still act responsibly and select someone who reflects the needs and values of the community, regardless of obstacles.
When choosing someone to fill a vacancy, I would look for a person with strong community ties, integrity, and a clear understanding of the district’s needs. Experience with public service, collaboration, and advocacy for residents would also be important to ensure they can effectively represent Prince George’s County.
I want to serve on the Central Committee because I care deeply about Prince George’s County and want to help strengthen civic engagement and leadership in our community. I believe young voices, fresh perspectives, and strong connections to residents are important in helping our party better represent the people it serves. Our kids are the future.
To ensure appointment decisions serve the community, I would prioritize transparency, listen to feedback from residents and local leaders, and evaluate candidates based on their record of service. Selecting someone who understands the district and is committed to representing all constituents helps ensure decisions reflect the community’s best interests.
