They also have jurisdiction over some types of civil cases (e.g., landlord/tenant and contracts) in which the amount sought is less than $10,000. Term: Four years; no term limits.

Filing County Dona Ana
Once elected, I will address the backlog with urgency and fairness by quickly learning court procedures and identifying bottlenecks. I will keep an organized and consistent docket, set clear timelines, and reduce delays through effective use of pretrial conferences and timely handling of routine matters. However, efficiency cannot outweigh justice; each case deserves fairness and due process. My goal is to be proactive, prepared, and consistent in moving cases forward.
Magistrate Court is often the public’s first contact with the justice system, so improvements, where necessary, matter. I prioritize access to justice through clear processes, consistent scheduling, and ideas like Justice Stations. Transparency builds trust. People should understand procedures, decisions, and their rights. Education for both the public, and within the system, can reduce confusion and delays. These steps make the court more accessible, understandable, and effective.
I bring courtroom experience, practical legal knowledge, and a commitment to fairness. Early on, military service instilled discipline and accountability. As a former Assistant District Attorney, I handled criminal cases start-to-finish, building a solid grasp of procedure and evidence. In private practice, I managed civil cases, strengthening my ability to evaluate facts and resolve disputes. As a mediator, I developed neutrality and conflict management.
