Occupation Civil Engineer
My vocation as an Engineer has become my advocation. As a young engineer entering the profession, I took an oath called The Order of the Engineer. In this oath, I dedicated my work to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare. I have been active at the local, state and federal level in economic development, quality of life, education, infrastructure and energy for more than 30 years. It is time for me to serve in the New Mexico Legislature to fight for legislation that reduces crime and taxes, improves our schools by attaining reading proficiency in third grade, protects our 2nd amendment rights and supports small businesses.
I served as a summer intern in Washington, DC working with the EPA, National Society of Professional Engineers, and the FAA. I worked for Senator Gay Kernan during the 48th Legislature where I was immersed in the legislative process. My gubernatorial appointments have included the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission, New Mexico State Highway Commission, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Board of Regents and New Mexico State University Board of Regents. I have worked alongside legislators, analysts and state departments writing bills and testifying before legislative committees to effect positive outcomes for Lea County and our State. As a business owner for 34 years and 15+ years effecting legislation, I am prepared.
Education, Economy, Crime, 2nd Amendment
Currently we have research and development in re-use of produced water and the treatment and use of the brackish water aquifer. These research and development efforts should be funded and legislatively empowered.
To fight crime, we must go after criminals not law abiding citizens. The legislature should • End “catch and release” by reforming liberal bail laws • Enact 3-strikes law for criminals convicted for 3 violent felonies • Place stiffer mandatory penalties for crimes committed with firearms • Support our police officers by reinstating their qualified immunity.
Complete overhaul of New Mexico's tax structure.
