What motivates you to become a board member?
What are 2-3 priorities for the school district? Why are these priorities, and what would you do to address them?
What strategies would you use to manage the school district’s budget to maintain or improve educational quality?
How have you been personally involved in the school district?
What training, characteristics, and experiences qualify you to make decisions about policies and governance for the school district?
What kind of relationship should the school board maintain with the people it serves, and what specific steps would you take to build that relationship?
How will you contribute to establishing and maintaining an effective school board?
I am running for the school board to ensure that all students will continue to get an excellent education and so that our taxpayers get their tax dollars spent wisely.
Three top priorities for the school district are student and faculty safety, construction projects to allow adequate space for the upcoming growth and a balanced budget with adequate funding for all program expansions. These are current needs of the district. The student and faculty safety will continue to be addressed by having safety officers on all campuses and utilizing the safety plan of Needville ISD. Our district will continue to work with our demographic consultants to ensure that we have appropriate plans for future growth. Needville ISD will continue to be involved with state legislation so that we can receive all of our allotted funding for our district.
Assure that the budget has adequate funding so that the faculty and staff continue to receive competitive salaries. In addition, any and all existing instructional programs will be funded through the budget.
I am currently serving as the Vice-President of the Needville ISD School Board, am a Past President of the Gulf Coast Association of School Boards and also am a current member of the Fort Bend County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
Having currently served on the board allows me to understand what our Needville ISD community expects and needs for our children. Also having testified in Austin before our state legislative committees gives me knowledge of the educational funding for the State of Texas.
I feel that a school board member should have the ability to listen to the concerns of our parents and tax payers to make beneficial decisions that affect the education of all students in Needville ISD. By doing so, I would continue to have an open ear to all.
I will continue to work to unify our board as a team of eight and will continue to listen to the other board members as they present their ideas. After discussion with all members of the board, I would work to find the best solutions to keep Needville ISD a leading school district in Texas.
