Biographical Information

SPECIAL ELECTIONS: When a vacancy occurs in the General Assembly, the party Central Committee appoints someone to complete the rest of the term. Do you support special elections to fill these vacancies?

GENERAL ASSEMBLY VACANCIES: What criteria will you use to choose a person to fill a vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly?

MOTIVATION: Why do you want to serve on your party's Central Committee?

VACANCY SELECTIONS: How can you ensure that your appointment decisions serve the best interest of the community when filling vacant positions?

Yes, I support special elections to fill vacancies in any elected office. As a current Associate Member of the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee, I have seen firsthand how these appointments are decided not by asking who would best represent the district, but instead by personal relationships and by pressure from party leadership. Maryland needs to do away with our opaque and undemocratic appointment process and let the voters decide who will represent them.
Until the appointment process is replaced by special elections, I would keep one question front of mind when determining my vote to fill a vacancy: which candidate is best equipped to advance my constituents' legislative interests in Annapolis? This includes their ability to work collaboratively and understanding of the issues facing Calvert. Candidates possessing unique experiences relevant to our issues will be particularly valuable.
I'm running to continue the work that I started when I joined the committee as an Associate Member in 2023. I've talked to countless community members about the problems they're facing, and I've spoken directly to lawmakers and leaders of the Maryland Democratic Party to demand they take our concerns seriously. If elected, I'm going to keep fighting for all of these things, and to bring transparency, accountability, and fairness to every branch of government.
To best serve our community's interests, I will continue to seek input from people of all walks of life across the whole county. I will keep showing up to events, and remain available and accountable to my constituents. I will stay up to date on what's happening at the federal, state, and local levels, and ask tough questions of both current and potential future elected officials. I love this county, and look forward to serving my community in this position.

My criteria are that the person be honest, hard-working, and knowledgeable about the needs of the district they are applying for. I also look for community involvement and a volunteering history with the Democrats.

I take this decision very seriously. It is a big responsibility. I can ensure that I have researched each candidate and that our central committee does a thorough vetting job of the candidates before we begin our debate and vote on our selection.
