The three-member Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the county. County Commissioner is the only office that has legislative, executive and judicial responsibilities and duties. Commissioners have the power to pass ordinances, adopt budgets, fix tax levy rates and oversee the county budget. They are charged with the duty of supervising the official conduct of all county officers as their conduct relates to public monies and revenues, as well as supervising appointed boards and committees. They also act as the Board of Equalization. The Board sits as a quasi-judicial body to hear various matters, including planning and zoning requests, property valuation protests and requests for cancellation of taxes, and indigent issues among many others.

Office Sought
Power County Commissioner, District 2
I’m a third generation farmer, and my wife, Melissa, and I have raised four wonderful children here in Power County. Last July, I was appointed by the Governor as a County Commissioner, and at that time I made a commitment to run in the upcoming election. That’s been an easy promise to keep, because it has been a privilege to work with the incredible people of Power County. I truly enjoy serving our community and I love this job. I would like to continue in my efforts to provide lower taxes, better transparency and increase efficiency of the services provided to our community.
I currently serve as Chairman of the American Falls-Aberdeen Water Board, am a member of the Idaho Ground Water Association, and serve as Treasurer for the Power County Farm Bureau. These roles have given me valuable experience working with diverse stakeholders and planning for opportunities that benefit our community.
Through the decisions I have made and the relationships I have built, I have earned the support and endorsement of the mayors of American Falls and Rockland, our Highway Commission, the superintendent, the hospital director, and nearly all of the department heads and elected officials in Power County.
A major key issue is growth. It is important that we attract the right types of businesses that align with our community’s values, while also expanding housing opportunities so people can live and contribute here. Growth is both important and inevitable, but it must be managed in a way that benefits our community.
Also, continued cooperation across our county is essential. I am proud of the strong working relationships we have with the City of American Falls, the City of Rockland, and our taxing districts. My goal is to continue working hand in hand with these partners to ensure we move forward together in the best interest of all our residents.
Looking ahead, I see many great opportunities for Power County. We have significant potential for growth on the horizon. By continuing to lower taxes and strengthening cooperation among our local entities, we can become more efficient and better serve our community.
I believe I have built strong relationships with both community members and local leaders to help accomplish these goals. I am committed to putting in the time and effort necessary to continue moving our county forward and achieving this vision.
