Mercer County Surrogate
Each county has a Surrogate’s Court, with the Surrogate, elected for a term of five years, acting as the Judge of that court. The duties of the Surrogate are to probate Wills, to process adoptions as well as contested probate matters and alleged incompetents, to film and record all probate proceedings, to invest minors’ funds, to appoint guardians of minors, and to administer estates without Wills.
