What should state government do to support access to affordable housing?
What should state government do to support equitable, quality public education (pre-K through higher ed) for all?
How do you view the initiative and referendum process in South Dakota? Are there any changes to this system that you would support?
Considering recently passed laws, what will you be watching for to ensure all eligible voters have equal access to the ballot box while maintaining the security and integrity of our elections?
What, if anything, should our state government do to support access to affordable, quality childcare?
What do you see as the most important challenges facing our state?
MORE HOUSES! We need to be focused on building infrastructure that promotes prosperity. This means more density. Affordability will also come to tax relief. Shifting the tax burden off of the potential home buy onto the super wealthy is one huge way to expand access to housing.
First step is supporting our teachers. Great students come from great teachers. We need to expand teacher compensation vastly and give more incentives to keep new graduates who want to teach here in South Dakota.
I think the primary issues here come from the lack of education on the process in general. The political battles involved would be solved if the voters have better access to the information and how the process works in general.
This entire topic has been completely politicized. South Dakota, like the rest of the country, has some of the most secure elections in the country. We need to empower the voters to have the confidence that their votes matter and they are safe to go to the polls without political persecution.
Universal free Pre-K. We need to relieve the early childcare burden on families by giving young families access to early education that also doubles as daycare services. This comes back to reformatting the tax system to removed the regressive taxes from the working families to give them more funds to be able to provide for their families.
I think the primary challenge in South Dakota is how our economy works. Right now our state is being taken advantage of by super rich people siphoning the wealth from the working families that make our society run. We need to completely rebuild our tax system to take back the stolen wealth from the hard working people in South Dakota. My goal is to create a more just tax system that leverages the wealth in our state for the 99% and not the 1% who wants to steal from working families.
