Reason for running: There is a lack of vision, leadership and transparency in Township government,
1) Public health and safety are the priority. If elected I will strive to maintain the current level of police, fire, and EMS protection that keep us safe. 2) Environmental protection must, and will be, maintained. But now there is a perception that some businesses or other entities can remove large stands of protected trees and wetlands, while homeowners or small businesses go through a bureaucratic nightmare over minor disturbances. In May the Detroit News ran a story about the ordeal a resident was experiencing to get a permit for a fence to protect a special needs child. It was not flattering to W Bloomfield. I support our environmental ordinances, but they must be enforced fairly and consistently. 3) Lack of leadership and transparency. Too many board meetings are held at noon when three of the Trustees, as well as the public, are unable to attend. The issue of poor trash pickup isn't being addressed. If elected I will work on these and other problems in township govt.

My name is Omar Kallabat, and I am a proud resident of West Bloomfield Township, small business owner, and active member of the Chaldean Catholic community. I serve mass at St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church and have led youth group there for six years, mentoring young people and helping organize community activities and charitable efforts. Professionally, I founded Vintage Luxury Rentals in 2021, growing it from one classic car into one of the premier vintage car rental companies in the Detroit area. Running a business has taught me leadership, communication, budgeting, and problem solving. I am running for township office because I believe West Bloomfield deserves leadership that is accessible, transparent, and focused on residents. I want to help strengthen our community, support responsible growth, and ensure local government works efficiently for everyone.
The top priorities facing West Bloomfield Township are responsible development, public safety, and community engagement. First, I believe the township should improve and streamline the permit and approval process so residents and businesses can work with local government more efficiently while still protecting neighborhood standards. Second, public safety and infrastructure must remain strong. Residents deserve safe neighborhoods, well maintained roads, and responsive emergency services. I support proactive planning and investment to maintain our quality of life as the township grows. Third, I believe we must strengthen community involvement and transparency. West Bloomfield is a diverse community, and every resident should feel heard and represented. As a township official, I would focus on listening to residents, attending community events, and building stronger relationships between township government and the people it serves.

I've lived in West Bloomfield for 29 years. We raised our family here, and our three adult children graduated from our public schools. I've always been an active volunteer, from the Brownies to WBHS Senior All-Night Party to Indivisible. I helped run a family business for 27 years managing IT, HR, leasing, and marketing. I know what it takes to run a successful organization: teamwork; great customer service; financial oversight and ethical integrity. I was appointed to the Planning Commission and elected to the West Bloomfield Parks Commission. I am familiar with municipal processes, and local government. Through my work in the community, I have seen the positive difference that civic engagement can make. When the Township Board seat opened up, I saw an opportunity to make a difference on a broader level. I'm running to lead with integrity and accountability, ensure all voices are heard, and deliver results to Township residents. I work hard, and get stuff done!
1. Our community is 97% developed. We are a wet community, with an abundance of lakes, wetlands and 3 watersheds: the Clinton, the Huron and the Rouge rivers. Waterways are valuable to communities only when they are clean and healthy. They also promote strong property values. One of my top priorities is to protect our waterways and woodlands as we plan for smart, balanced redevelopment. 2. Promote civic resources and opportunities. As a member of our Parks Diversity Task Force, I have had the privilege to engage in programs that draw across the rich cultures and diversity of West Bloomfield. l will foster civic engagement and promote strong, inclusive community connections. 3. Keeping our community safe is a priority in West Bloomfield. We have a highly trained, talented staff of first responders who protect every resident, every visitor and every member of our faith-based institutions. I will support strong public safety funding and resources to those who safeguard our community.
