DC Delegate to the US House of Representatives (desplácese hacia abajo para leer en español)Also referred to as a congressman or congresswoman, the Delegate is elected to a two-year term serving the people of the District of Columbia. Duties: The Delegate possesses the same powers as other members of the House, except that she or he may not vote when the House is meeting as the House of Representatives. The party that controls the House may grant the Delegate limited voting rights. Among other duties, the Delegate introduces bills and resolutions, offers amendments and serves on committees.
