Addressing the crime rate in the city, bringing accountability back, and achieving justice for victims. Specifically addressing the property crime rate, which leads the region. Addressing the crime in downtown areas that has parents scared to walk with their children to the park or at night. Working with other local partners to address the crimes that are related to the homeless population. Addressing dangerous criminal traffic offenses that occur in the city, especially in downtown areas. Fixing the poor success rate that the office has at trial and repairing the reputation that the prosecutors are not prepared for court and their cases. Fixing the poor relationship that the office has with law enforcement and even the local bar.
With close to 25 years as a prosecutor, public defender, and juvenile probation officer, I bring a broad, balanced perspective. I’ve prosecuted complex cases from misdemeanors to capital murder with a deep commitment to justice and fairness.
As Commonwealth’s Attorney for Spotsylvania County, I led a large office, continuously lowering the crime rate while also launching innovative programs like behavioral health and veterans’ dockets, and a first-time offender initiative.
I have also worked extensively on law enforcement training, policy, and community engagement at the local, state, and national levels because of my legal expertise.
I have even been nominated by my peers for a judgeship, reflecting my integrity and legal expertise.
I enjoy living in Fredericksburg, because it perfectly blends history, charm, and modern convenience. The city's rich heritage, neighborhoods, and preserved architecture give it a unique character, while the lively downtown offers great local restaurants, merchants, and events. I enjoy how walkable and community-oriented it is, with farmers markets, the Fair Grounds events, and downtown festivals. The Rappahannock River adds natural beauty and outdoor activities to the mix, which is a plus. Fredericksburg is also perfectly situated between D.C. and Richmond, but far enough from both to maintain a relaxed, small-town feel. Overall, Fredericksburg offers a high quality of life with a strong sense of community and plenty to do all year.
