I am a current County Coucilman serving my first 4 year term.
Just recently our current council overwhelming voted against raising the tax rate of Cass resident and I am proud to say I voted against the increase. It is my hope that we can in the future keep this same mindset that to make these same types of decisions while maintaining a safer and better Cass County.
The public involvement starts at the polls and needs to continue by being active by attending all county meeting and becoming informed.. Then reach out to your elected and appointed official and voice your concerns.
I felt the need to become part of our government to help change for the better how we spend and don’t spend our tax dollars.
I have been a Cass County resident for 44 years and raised our family here. I am now currently phasing myself into a “mostly retired, partly working” status for my employer of 48 years. I look forward to what the future brings.
I’ve served in government since January 1 2020 at the age of 19. First as an At-Large Councilman on the City Council. Now I serve in the Clerk-Treasurers office. I still believe the ultimate qualifier is a willing attitude to listen to the needs of others.. collaborate with different groups of people, and realize it’s about everyone else around and not myself. I believe my experiences in City Government and in the military have set me up with a team oriented focus ready to serve our community.
I believe our local tax rates need to be adjusted. Over the last few years inflation rates have continued to rise, while income rates haven’t grown at a rate to match. I believe we need to sit down as a community, emphasize the projects and programs we need to start, continue, and look at trimming down so we maintain a fiscally responsible county, but we also leave citizens with more hard-earned money in their bank accounts. I would work with other members in the county and the public on solutions.
I would like to see the county for one change the meeting times to the evenings like most cities do. Currently morning meetings keep many citizens from being able to attend due to school or work. I also would like to see the county advertise meeting times and agendas on social media platforms so that people are aware of what will be discussed more effectively. As for financially specifically budget talks during meetings need to have plenty of allotted time for citizens to discuss issues important to them.. whether in favor of a program or against. Being an elected official means to listen and do what you can that benefits the community at large.
I have a lot of passion for this community. We have so many good people living and growing our county. I truly believe we have greatness living in our borders and I want to help grow it. I want to foster a dynamic county-city/town relationship that fosters growth and transparency. I want to see us address the income tax levels in our county, see the growth of business, and overall quality of life in our county. I decided to run because I believe in the greatness of our county and I hope to be able to help make it greater somehow.
I’m just another person living in this community. I am 23 years old, and I was raised in a family with 6 other siblings. I was raised with a focus on helping whenever and wherever I can. It’s that mindset that led me to join the Indiana Army National Guard in 2019. That experience helped me grow as a person and as a team player. I received my HSE instead of taking the traditional route and am focused on doing my job with the city well, and preparing to return to college. Thank you for this opportunity to talk to you all!
I have served 9 of the past 10 years on the Cass County Council at Large, 2 as Vice President and one as President. I have been elected via caucus twice to complete other's uncompleted terms and won both primary and general election in 2020. I serve on the Cass County Board of Zoning Appeals. Cass County EMA Council, Cass County E911 Governing Board. Other activities include Civic Players, 4-H and the Cass County Republican Committee. I am very active in my church and have served as Church Youth Group Leader. For the last twenty-five years, I have been employed as an Institutional Teacher at Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility.

All of the above require Budgeting, communication and cooperation. I am Honest, dependable, truthful.
I am not a fan of high taxes, but I am a fan of excellent customer service. This is what Cass County Government Departments provide for the Citizens of Cass County. Various taxes are how services are provided for the community, how County employees are paid. There are a lot of moving parts to this issue along with guidelines from the State. I am open to adjusting tax rates that need to be adjusted, but services must be provided in the most cost-effective way possible. Thanks to the open-door policy of our public meetings, the public has an opportunity to express their views, thoughts and opinions to the various agencies. It is a difficult discussion to have balancing and meeting wants and needs of the citizenry now and in future.
As I stated above, the open-door policy allows the public to attend our public meetings and to comment to their elected officials. I want to hear from you about what the County is doing for you and how you believe we can work together to make Cass County an even better place to live, work, play, raise a family and run a business.
I love my job on the Cass County Council. I love helping to provide the services for this community to thrive and grow. It is a lot of work for very little money, but it is a service to the County as a whole. It is giving back, it is building, it is growing this community.
I am Very Happily Married for 30 years going on Forever Together. We have one Daughter, a 29-year-old Caston Graduate. I came to Logansport to accept a Special Education Teaching position with the Indiana Department of Correction, Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility in September of 1999. We purchased our home in Cass County in July of 2001 and moved our family, our dogs, cats and horses. I am a Conservative Christian. Strong Republican and Grass Roots active since High School. Anderson University Graduate with Special Education coursework at Ball State University. Public School Teacher in Indiana, Ohio and Texas before accepting the State position for the IDOC.
