Tarrant County District Judge, 371st Judicial District

The district courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction of Texas. District courts have original jurisdiction in all felony criminal cases, divorce cases, cases involving title to land, election contest cases, civil matters in which the amount in controversy (the amount of money or damages involved) is $200 or more, and any matters in which jurisdiction is not placed exclusively in another trial court. While most district courts try both criminal and civil cases, in the more densely populated counties the courts may specialize in civil, criminal, juvenile, or family law matters.

As judge of the 371st District Court, my qualifications span 18 combined years in the courtroom. I draw on 14 years as a prosecutor and 4 years on the bench, having tried over 150 cases from misdemeanors to Capital Murder. This deep trial experience ensures I thoroughly understand the rights of the accused, the needs of victims, and strict judicial neutrality. My record proves I run an efficient docket while honoring our citizen jurors and ensuring both sides receive a fair, just trial.
To improve access to justice in Tarrant County, we must uphold constitutional principles and expand cost-effective specialty courts, like mental health and veterans' programs. This reduces recidivism and saves taxpayer dollars. Most criminal courts in Tarrant County have no backlogs. Because our low case numbers keep dockets clean and protect the right to a speedy trial, we can improve the quality of justice by giving complex cases the attention they deserve, and support our specialty courts.
The 371st District Court has no backlog. Among urban courts, it is one of the most efficient in Texas. We set clear expectations at filing and hold parties accountable throughout. When necessary, we carefully adjust schedules and use creative problem-solving to keep cases moving forward on time while fully protecting the constitutional rights of the accused. This proven management style ensures swift justice without sacrificing thoroughness.
To maintain absolute impartiality, I enforce a strict boundary between campaign politics and the courtroom. The law is my only guide. I follow the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct to ensure full fundraising transparency, and I completely isolate campaign contributions from judicial decisions. Every individual who enters my court—regardless of political background or campaign support—receives the exact same fair, objective trial based strictly on the evidence, never politics.
The most pressing judicial challenges today are a volatile political climate and deepening social divisions. I address these issues by ensuring my courtroom remains a sanctuary for the rule of law, completely isolated from outside cultural and political noise. Every individual who enters the 371st District Court is treated with identical dignity and respect. I guarantee that every case is evaluated objectively and decided strictly on the law and the evidence, never on politics or identity.

Occupation Attorney
B.A. in Mathematics, University of Oklahoma; J.D., Texas A&M University School of Law. Experienced trial attorney with a diverse practice in criminal and family law. My career includes service as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney, managing my own law firm, and seven years in corporate America.
My experience allows me to see the justice system from every side. I have served as both a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney, represented families, managed a law practice, and worked in corporate America. I have spent years in Tarrant County courtrooms representing people whose lives are directly affected by judicial decisions. I bring legal experience, real-world perspective, and a commitment to protecting constitutional rights and treating every person with dignity.
Justice must be accessible, understandable, and timely. No resident should be disadvantaged because of income, language, disability, or an overwhelmed court system. I will work to move cases efficiently, ensure meaningful access to counsel and interpreters, use technology when appropriate, and make sure people understand the process. Access to justice means every person can be heard, understand what is happening, and receive a fair and timely resolution.
Swift justice requires intentional case management. My goal is to efficiently move cases toward resolution within one year, while giving each case the time necessary to be handled fairly. I will immediately identify and prioritize cases pending longer than three years, use firm scheduling and meaningful court settings, and address unnecessary delays. Efficiency should never come at the expense of fairness, but justice should not take years.
Campaign contributions support a campaign, not purchase access to a courtroom. If elected, every decision I make will be based on the law and the facts, never on who supported, opposed, or contributed to my campaign. I will follow all disclosure and recusal requirements and avoid even the appearance that relationships or contributions influence my decisions. The public must be able to trust that justice is not for sale.
One of our most pressing issues is breaking the cycle of repeat offenses. Accountability and public safety must remain priorities, but punishment alone cannot address every problem. When appropriate, I will support rehabilitation that includes mental health and substance-abuse treatment, education, and career-readiness skills. A safer Tarrant County means holding people accountable while giving those willing to change the tools to return to our community and succeed.
