What are the most important goals for Wellesley to achieve over the next five years?

Relevant Experience Current TMM, Wellesley Advisory Committee (2024-current), Director of Technology, Educator
Prioritize, plan, and execute potentially $400M+ worth of needed capex projects (additionally develop WPS long term plan ---future WMS building, etc.) Continue to partner with WPS with a focus on delivery of world-class education for our students / Work on building consensus with regards to residential development strategies / Increase resident engagement in town government affairs
Relevant Experience 13-year TMM; current NRC (past chair); former School Cmte. (past chair); municipal attorney; WHS '11
Continue to provide excellent services while managing capital costs in an inflationary environment. Despite historic investments in our elementary schools, significant capital costs (e.g., WMS, DPW, Schofield and Fiske) loom long term. The Town must plan proactively for such costs while seeking to maintain services within the limits of Prop. 2½ or by asking the voters for targeted debt exclusions.

1. Getting excessive spending on projects under control. 2. Control runaway building which is destroying our limited open spaces and draining our sustainable resources, especially in wetland resource areas. 3. Making sure our water and power sources are able to keep up with future demands. 4. Making sure that educational spending is giving residents the best value for their dollars spent.

Creating and committing to a strategic plan is the most important goal for the Town. Without a strategic plan, there is no foundation for setting priorities and decision-making allowing for endless debates and delaying critical decisions for Wellesley's future.
