I have over 20 years of experience working with legislators in Kansas to pass meaningful legislation that addresses the needs of everyday Kansans. I know how the legislator works and will be effective on Day 1.
I am hardworking and have been recognized as a leader in public health and advocacy. My tenacity has led to success in building a nonprofit to address the issues faced by breastfeeding mothers and babies. Working collaboratively, we have moved Kansas breastfeeding rates from 42nd to 4th in the nation.
1) Rising costs of health care - expand Medicaid and require price, ownership, and financial transparency.
2) Cost of child care - bring back Kansas taxpayers' dollars to Kansas for child care subsidies; look at public-private partnerships.
3) K-12 financing - fully fund special education so school districts do not have to use general funds to cover the gap.
We need to modernize the Kansas legislature's website to make it easier for citizens to track bills. The "gut and go" process should be prohibited.
