Commissioner of Insurance
The Kansas Insurance Commissioner is an elected state executive position in the Kansas state government. The commissioner serves as the head of the Kansas Department of Insurance, which regulates and reviews companies for financial solvency and regulatory compliance, educates consumers and helps license agents selling insurance products in the state.The commissioner's duties are introduced in Chapter 40, Article 1, Section 2 of the Kansas Statutes. Within this section, the officer entitled commissioner of insurance "is charged with the administration of all laws relating to insurance, insurance companies and fraternal benefit societies doing business in this state, and all other duties which are or may be imposed upon such officer by law."
