As a mother, I believe education is one of the most important responsibilities we have as a state. I've experienced public schools, private schools, and homeschooling, so I know every child learns differently and every family has unique needs.
I want Kansas schools to focus on helping students succeed in reading, writing, math, science, history, and practical life skills that prepare them for adulthood. Parents should be respected and involved in decisions affecting their children. I also want to see more support for vocational and technical education so students have multiple paths to success. Our education dollars should reach classrooms and teachers first, with accountability for how those funds are spent.
Kansas families are working harder than ever just to keep up with rising costs. As a small business owner, I understand what it means to balance a budget and make tough financial decisions. Government should do the same.
Before asking Kansans to pay more in taxes, we should make sure taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely and efficiently. I support responsible tax relief when possible because I believe families, farmers, retirees, and small business owners know how to spend their money better than government does. My goal is to keep Kansas affordable while ensuring we can continue providing essential services.
Healthcare is a deeply personal issue because every family eventually faces challenges related to illness, aging parents, disabilities, or financial hardship. I believe Kansas has a responsibility to care for our most vulnerable citizens while also being responsible with taxpayer dollars.
When it comes to Medicaid expansion, I believe we must carefully evaluate both the benefits and long-term costs before making decisions that could impact future generations. My focus is on making sure Kansans have access to quality care, especially in rural communities where healthcare options continue to shrink. Whether services are provided through KanCare or other programs, accountability, transparency, and patient care must always come first. And the system needs reform before discussing expansion of any programs.
I grew up understanding the importance of personal responsibility and constitutional freedoms. I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding Kansans to own and carry firearms. At the same time, I recognize that violence in our communities is a serious concern. We should focus on enforcing existing laws, supporting law enforcement, improving access to mental health resources, and addressing the root causes of violent crime. I do not believe taking rights away from responsible citizens is the answer.
Anyone who has driven Kansas highways or crossed aging bridges knows infrastructure isn't a partisan issue—it's a safety issue. Strong roads and bridges support our families, businesses, farmers, and rural communities. I believe we should focus on maintaining and improving the infrastructure we already have before pursuing unnecessary projects. Transportation funds should be used for transportation, and taxpayers deserve transparency about how those dollars are spent. As governor, I would work to ensure both urban and rural Kansas receive the infrastructure investments they need to thrive
