I believe my professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to serving others have prepared me well to represent the residents of Ward 3 on the Great Bend City Council.

For more than a decade, I have worked in the field of disability services, helping individuals achieve greater independence and quality of life. In my current role as Director of Planned Giving and Community Support at Sunflower Diversified Services, I work closely with community members, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local leaders to build partnerships, solve problems, and support initiatives that strengthen our community. The City Council plays a critical role in shaping the future of Great Bend. Council members are responsible for making decisions that affect the daily lives of residents, including public safety, infrastructure, economic development, housing, parks and recreation, and the responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

Local government is often the level of government closest to the people, and City Council members have a direct opportunity to listen to residents, address concerns, and help create solutions that improve our community. The decisions made by the Council influence not only the services residents receive today but also the opportunities available for future generations.

Replacing aging water lines and a wastewater treatment plant. Our wastewater treatment plant is over seventy years old and has not been upgraded in nearly thirty years. It has to be replaced and we need to deal with it ASAP. Great Bend has water lines running beneath our city streets that are over 100 years old. I am not a water expert, but this can’t be good for drinking water. Last but not least, taxes. The citizens of Great Bend are taxed out. We have to find a way to keep taxes at their current level or lower.

I have lived in Great Bend for sixty years and know this town very well. I worked in retail for forty years, most of those years in management. The companies I worked for did tens of millions of dollars in sales annually giving me experience in setting and meeting budget goals.

This office is local government. Almost all decisions for Great Bend’s well being are made by city staff, the mayor and city council.
