The Collector’s Office Chairs and manages the Cemetery Board for the historic Wheatland Township Cemetery. Maintaining the property is the principal responsibility and making the cemetery available to local residents. It shows respect to those who chose to make this their last resting place. Making sites available to citizens helps pay for the current upkeep of the Cemetery. Understanding the sensitivity required to help families during difficult times is required. Keeping individual site purchase costs at a reasonable level while increasing occupancy keeps the Cemetery an active and valuable resource for our citizens and maintains a sense of history for our community
Continuing to coordinate with the Wheatland Township Road Department in maintaining the Cemetery help insure a cost effective and available force for the consistent update of the Cemetery. Making sure that recordkeeping is fully documented and digitized will help keep information available for future generations and avoid loss to unexpected catastrophic events.
As residents of unincorporated Naperville in Wheatland Twnshp, homes in this area get services directly from the Township rather than the City of Naperville so Jim appreciates the importance of this level of government. Efficient and cost-effective government is critical to homeowners and protecting their home’s value.
Digitizing data makes the information more portable for citizens and families researching Cemetery history records. Regular review and auditing of records assures accuracy and accountability. Regular publishing of records as part of Wheatland Trustee meetings also helps keep the Cemetery current in the decision-making process. Annual reports to Wheatland Trustees and to the taxpayer reminds everyone of this important asset
