Vote for not more than 4Wheatland Township is a six-by-six square mile area that was established in 1849. As it predates all other forms of government, it is located in Will County, IL and encompasses portions of The City of Naperville, Village of Plainfield, City of Aurora, Village of Bolingbrook and City of Romeoville. The primary purpose of Wheatland Township is to serve as the local representative government for the unincorporated areas of the above municipalities. Per state statute, this MUST include assessor services, road and drainage maintenance and general assistance services. Wheatland Township has two distinct divisions of government: the township and the road district. The Township Board includes an elected Supervisor and four Trustees to govern township operations. The annual compensation for a Wheatland Township Trustee is $7,000.Other elected officials include: Assessor, who oversees the Assessor Services, Clerk, who serves as the recorder and Will County liaison and Tax Collector, who oversees Cemetery operations. The Cemetery, in accordance with State Law, has its own board that reports directly to the Supervisor. The Road District is governed by an elected Road Commissioner who coordinates all things relative to road and drainage projects. The township Supervisor serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Road District.More information: Wheatland Township

I am currently an incumbent Wheatland Township Trustee. I am a Licensed Professional Engineer and hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Purdue University.
I am also active in the community and serve both as a member on the Naperville Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) and the Floodplain Committee for the IL Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM).
I believe my detail-oriented nature and strong work ethic are an asset to the Board of Trustees. As a husband and father of two children, I understand the impact our local government has on all residents, especially families living in Wheatland Township.
My One Wheatland Slate is running on the issues of Transparency, Efficiency and Accountability.
Transparency – Currently, agenda items and attachments are provided with short notice or sometimes as I’m walking into a board meeting. This leaves no time to review the items to be voted upon. I propose that the agenda (including all attachments) be published online at least a few days prior to the board meetings.
Efficiency – I believe our township would benefit from increased efficiency to ensure that our tax dollars are used wisely. I propose using a zero-based budget where each line item is reviewed to determine if it continues to serve its purpose. I also propose to investigate additional shared services with other local governments to reduce costs for our township.
Accountability – As an elected official to serve specific duties for the township, I believe accountability is important. I propose each elected official re-take duties which have been passed onto other township staff.
The current board majority voted to increase elected official salaries as well as provide new health and dental insurance benefits for certain elected officials. I voted no to this and will continue to vote against any future salary increases or new benefits.
I also propose to investigate additional shared-services or intergovernmental agreements with nearby local governments. This would both reduce costs and maintain necessary township services.
As stated previously, I propose that prior to passing the next years’ budget, that each line item be reviewed to determine if it is still necessary. If so, we should investigate if the costs can be reduced either through shared agreements, renegotiated contracts, etc.
As mentioned above, I believe that transparency and accountability are important issues for Wheatland Township and I hope to increase both if I am elected to another term.
To increase transparency, I propose that the full agenda and all attachments be published online at least a few days prior to the monthly board meetings. This way, both the board members and the public would have adequate time to read through the materials and note any questions. This would also prevent bringing back certain items for issues that could have been resolved prior to the board meeting, as has happened in the past with certain language in proposed ordinances and approvals.
To increase accountability, I propose that elected officials perform more of their duties they were elected to perform rather than hire additional staff at the Township.
