Qualifications: To be eligible to run for local office, a person must:Be registered to vote in the districtHave resided in the county for at least one yearHave resided in the district for at least six monthsTerm Limits: Four-year terms. No term limits.Duties: The Council duties are:To adopt annual budgetsFix salariesFix the county tax rateFurnish financial assistance to any community center for the mentally handicapped located in the countyIncur county indebtednessLevy taxes to provide funds for constructingMake appropriations, re-appropriates and transfers of fundsProvide for repair and remodeling of jails Current At-Large Council Salary: $37,059.56
