CARTERET COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS DISTRICT 06
The 7-member Board sets the policy for the county, determining the strategic vision for the county, appoints a county manager, attorney and others to serve the county, adopts ordinances, including zoning, and establishes an annual budget, which includes setting the tax rate and calling bond referendums. One commissioner is elected from each district, with the exception of District 3 (Morehead City), which elects two members to the Board of Commissioners.Commissioners are elected in partisan elections to staggered four-year terms. Candidates are elected by specific district during the Primary election (March) but are elected at-large countywide in the November General election. All commissioners must reside within the boundaries of the district they represent.

As a life long resident of Carteret County I am fully aware of the needs of our citizens. My 6 years of service on the board, plus my time as Chairman has proven that I put the people first on issues that are important to them.
We need more space at the court house, we are busting at the seams and are in need of a new administration building. That will house the sheriff's office, register of deeds, tax office, 911 center, county manager and emergency management. All while keeping the courts at it's current location.
The commissioners only provide the funding, the Board of Education sets the policy. I have been a strong supporter of our great schools and am very proud of the success that they have achieved.
I have kept taxes low & maintained a good quality of life for the citizens of this great county. I believe government should refrain from being involved in the lives of its citizens whenever possible.
I have been a champion of mental health services and we are working on a new respite care facility for our elderly citizens, while looking to expand our sports fields for our youth.
